Riva Light Cure is the ideal radiopaque, resin reinforced glass ionomer restorative material. With excellent tooth adhesion, sustained fluoride release, high compressive strength and command set, Riva Light Cure is useful for a wide range of restorative applications. It is available in A1, A2, A3, A3.5, A4, B2, B3, B4, C2, C4 and bleach shades, in capsules and powder-liquid kits.

FEATURES

  • Combination of GIC advantages and composite advantages: Riva Light Cure is a light-cured, resin-reinforced glass ionomer restorative cement. Glass ionomers release fluoride and chemically bond to the tooth structure whilst composites have excellent aesthetics. Riva Light Cure is a combination of both with excellent aesthetics, fluoride release and it chemically bonds to the tooth structure.
  • Non-stick handling: Riva Light Cure HV can be manipulated immediately after mixing. It is a very sculptable material. It does not stick to instruments and resists any initial threading traditionally found with a light cured GIC. Riva Light Cure HV does not lift off after placement, particularly in the maxillary position.
  • Fabulous aesthetics: Riva Light Cure’s translucency ensures aesthetics are maximised to enable natural looking restorations with chameleon effects. ”Riva Light Cure is the most translucent of the RMGIs tested”
  • Great marginal adaptation: Riva Light Cure is the answer to long term microleakage prevention. Use it as a restorative or a base under permanent restorations. “...light-cured and self-cured glass ionomer bases were more effective in reducing microleakage in both the occlusal and proximal cavo surfaces than a flowable resin

INSTRUCTIONS FOR USING RIVA LIGHT CURE CAPSULES

PREPARATION

  • Clean and isolate tooth.
  • Note: A conservative cavity should be prepared, employing standard techniques and instruments. Undercuts are not necessary
  • In cases where pulp protection is necessary, use a calcium hydroxide liner.

CONDITIONING / ETCHING:

  • Apply Riva Conditioner to the prepared surfaces and leave in cavity for 10 seconds
  • Rinse thoroughly with water
  • Remove excess water. Keep moist. Avoid contamination.

IMPORTANT: Be careful not to completely dry the surface. Surface should be glistening.

PLACEMENT PROCEDURE:

  • Activate the capsule by pushing the plunger until it is flush with the body. Important: Do not click with applicator before you mix
  • Immediately place the capsule into the Ultramat 2 amalgamator, or any other suitable mixer (4000-4800rpm), and triturate for 10 seconds
  • Immediately remove the capsule and place into the Riva applicator
  • Click the trigger of the Riva applicator until glass ionomer paste is seen through the clear nozzle
  • Fill Riva Light Cure into the cavity, being careful not to trap air under the restoration.

Note: At 23ºC/74ºF working time will be about 130 seconds (2’10’’) from the start of mixing. In situations above this temperature, working times will shorten. Adhesion strength will decrease if material is manipulated after this time. Use a layering technique for cavities deeper than 2 mm

  • Light cure for 20 seconds using the SDI Radii LED Curing Light or any other visible light-curing device (470 nm wavelength). Place light source as closely as possible to the cement surface.
  • Finish the restoration using standard techniques. Finishing may be commenced immediately after light curing. 8. Instruct patient not to eat for at least one hour after procedure
